Thomas and Amanda Gutierrez are missionaries in Managua, Nicaragua. In partnership with Halle and Kathy August, one of the Gutierrez’s main focuses is developing a Christian sports center. The building of the sports center has been a joint effort with the Augusts and many short-term teams from the States as well as folks from Thomas’ home church. Over the years they have seen the sports center grow with additions of a second basketball court and a pool. Read more about the sports center at their website, Salero.org (the Salt Shaker).
Another area of their ministry is running a scholarship program. They focus mostly on scholarships for university students and a backpack program that provides school supplies to over 600 students each year. Read about the Scholarship Program to find out more.
Thomas is employed at the Nicaragua Christian Academy as their computer tech. He also offers his services in helping fellow missionaries and friends with their computer problems. On the side, Amanda began making Nicaraguan postcards from all of her photography.

Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you!
“Does anyone have the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blithely invoke?
Or, as I suspect, does no one believe a word of it?
The churches are children playing on the floor with their chemistry sets, mixing up a bunch of TNT to kill a Sunday morning.
It is madness to wear ladies’ straw hats and velvet hats to church; we should all be wearing crash helmets. Ushers should issue life preservers and signal flares; they should lash us to our pews.”
